In Honor of mi Ama, Alicia Navarro
1960 - 2019
My grandma was a strong and powerful woman. A proud Tejana, who once owned a cantina, while putting drunk men in their place and raising a family of 10 children on her own. The older I get, the more I’ve gotten to connect with and learn about her. I’ve realized I am a lot like my Ama. Especially when it comes to our hustle and style. Bold prints, cowgirl boots, tons of black, and the confidence only some can carry so effortlessly.
She always taught us, “It’s not what you wear, but how you wear it.” She was a Thrift Queen and really stood by that statement. She called every thrift store ‘Sears’. It’s been an inside joke in my family for a long time, as she kept her hidden gems a secret and would tell people she got pieces from “Sears.”
Tejana Thrift is a dedication to Alicia Navarro. She is truly missed, but her legacy carries on.
Who We Are
You might talk about your origin story, your team, highlight awards or recognitions, or share photos. Tap into your creativity. You’ve got this. The way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident, and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now.
